How to know if God is calling you

Many people float through life unaware of their life’s purpose. Then all of a sudden, they have an experience that leads them to believe that God might be calling them to a higher purpose.

1280px-Armenian_Church

Prophet TB Joshua once had a similar reckoning which has led him from what was sure to be a life of abject poverty in Nigeria to a life spent preaching God’s word across the globe.

Is the Lord calling you to a similar mission or a different one altogether? By looking for the signs listed below, you can get clear on whether God wants you to do his bidding, wherever you happen to live.

1) There’s something troubling you that won’t depart your mind

Ever have a nagging thought that just won’t leave your mind, no matter how hard you try? When there is a moral conundrum that will not leave your subconscious, it is a sign from the Lord that he is calling you to do something about it.

Ignoring it will only make the thought grow bigger until it prompts you to act, so get up off your butt and help make the world a better place.

2) An apparent call to action comes to you as you pray

Most of the prayers offered up to God are normally are met with silence not because he doesn’t care, but because he is engaged in the perfect act of doing things in the way nature intended.

It doesn’t mean that he isn’t listening: he most certainly is, and as many people find out, you end up receiving what you need at the moment it is required.

On the other hand, it can be jarring when you are on the receiving end of a request, as people aren’t used to a deity speaking to them.

Just as the Lord has listened and helped you all your life, don’t deny the call of your heavenly father: what you must do may not be clear at the outset, but take the first step towards helping him create a better world.

3) Someone enters your life who spurs your faith

As it has often been said, the Lord works in mysterious ways. When someone enters your life that helps you engage with your Heavenly Father in a more profound way, you need to search for the meaning behind it.
By praying deeply on this matter, you can better understand what you need to do with this new accomplice in your ongoing Christian faith.

4) He speaks to you in a way you can understand

If there is anyone that understands how you tick, it is your Father in Heaven. After all, he is the one who created you in the first place.

If you are a quiet introvert, he will speak to you in an understated, almost whispery fashion. If you are a loud, brash person, his message for you will come through a powerful medium.

Don’t look for the message to come through an unexpected source; it will be through a method that you will understand, even if the meaning of the message is unclear at first.

Gun Safety Tips For First Time Gun Owners

gun-safety

When you are buying a gun for the first time, it can be pretty confusing and difficult to figure out just what you need to do to keep everyone, including yourself, safe. Still, you have to do the research and read over the rules so that you can know what you need to do.

When thinking about purchasing a new gun, whether it is your first time or not, you have to consider the safety concerns. Also realize that the type of gun does have an impact – whether it be a pistol, shotgun or rifle. Even paintball guns and BB guns require knowledge of these rules for gun safety.

In America, owning a gun is an inherent right, but we still have to know that there is a great responsibility when it comes to owning one. It isn’t enough to be able to purchase one, in order to continue the safety of the right, you have to know how to keep it safe – when using it, when transporting it, and when storing it. Use the following steps to ensure that you are being the most responsible gun owner you can be.

Take a Gun Safety Class

When you are even considering getting a gun, you should look into gun safety classes right away. While handling a gun and shooting it might seem simple, it definitely isn’t the easiest thing to do. Much like driving a car, you will need time to practice and learn before you can be left alone. That’s why many places will offer gun safety courses. The National Rifle Association (NRA) has local safety classes all over that are some of the best you can get.

There are different levels of gun safety classes in some locations, so if you have experience with one type of gun but don’t have experience with another type, you may want to still take a class on that specific gun.

Get Comfortable With Your Gun

Some people like the DIY aspect of getting an ar10 80 lower and building their own gun  with the intention of using it for protection. However, the problem is that they don’t use the gun to get comfortable enough with it to actually use in a time of danger. Then, if something does actually happen where the gun is needed, they aren’t prepared to use it and can severely hurt themselves or someone else.

Get comfortable with your gun. You purchased it, so you might as well use it. There are gun shooting ranges almost everywhere so that you can go and shoot a few times. You should do this every few months just to ensure your gun is still in working conditions.

You should also get comfortable with loading, unloading, and cleaning your gun – something you’ll learn at those aforementioned gun safety classes.

A Gun is Always Loaded

You must understand that guns are extremely powerful and there are too many accidental discharges each year because people don’t realize that. Even if you know that a gun isn’t loaded, you have to handle it like it is. Depending on the gun, there is a chance that you forgot about a bullet or there is still something in the chamber. If you share a gun, it could have been loaded without your knowledge.

Never, ever underestimate the amount of damage a gun can do. It isn’t worth the risk to joke around and assume that a gun isn’t loaded.

Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger

When you are holding a gun, cleaning it, showing it to someone, or just moving it to transport, your finger should never be on the trigger. In fact, it should not be near the trigger until you are ready to fire the gun. If you keep your finger there any other time, you run the risk of an accidental discharge or a mistake that can be extremely detrimental.

Once again, it isn’t worth the risk.

Never Point a Gun at Anyone, Including Yourself

Never point the muzzle of a gun toward yourself or toward anyone else. This goes for whether it is loaded or unloaded, because once again, you never want to assume a gun is unloaded.

For the safety of everyone, keep the gun pointed away from people when handling it or even when you let it sit down. It is best to never handle a gun around a large group of people unless you absolutely have to.

Have a Gun Storage System

Having a gun safe is important for all gun owners, of course, but it becomes a necessity if you have children in your home. Young children are naturally drawn to guns because we always tell them not to touch them. They will seek out guns if they aren’t properly locked in a safe. Also, anyone who is having psychological challenges or taking mood altering medications should never have access to a gun.

Even if you keep your guns unloaded (which you absolutely should), you must put your gun in a safe. There are different kinds of safes on the market, including ones that require keys, ones that need a combination, and more high tech safes that require your fingerprint. You’ll have to work within your means to find the system that works the best for you, but there is something out there for everyone.

Educate Everyone in Your Family About Gun Safety – Including (Especially) Children
Gun responsibility and safety is your responsibility for everyone in your home. If you have someone living with you, you have to make sure that everyone understands these rules as well. Make everyone in your household aware of the basic gun safety practices.

Even more importantly, you have to teach children that they are never to touch a gun and they are to walk away and tell an adult if they see a gun anywhere they are. You can’t be with your child at all times, so you can’t always be there to take it away. Gun safety in many cases will extend outside of your home.

Mixed Feelings on Living in Mixed-use Developments

washington-d-1607722_640

In the traditional sense, a house is a shelter that provides a roof above your head. However, as time passes, what once existed and accepted is now being changed for the better. The increase in population and lack of land area for living have pushed engineers to think beyond the box – vertically, in fact. Instead of the traditional patterns of houses arranged neatly in rows, modern buildings are being developed to new heights – literally. Apart from the residential feature, homeowners can now enjoy retail and commercial aspects with just a few floors in between. We’ve become accustomed to single-use developments, but with an increasingly urbanized population living in a fast-paced society, a new kind of development has taken reins in big cities.

The introduction of mixed-use developments is inevitable. As new generations surge forth, standards of living have also leveled up.

Is that such a bad thing?

Living in mixed-use developments has many benefits. It’s all about the context. In an urban setting, a mixed-use structure can offer both convenience and leisure under the same roof. The upsides of living in a mixed-use development are many and varied.Firstly, the convenience makes it easier for homeowners to get things done, like shopping for groceries or joining a yoga class. A mixed-use development means that amenities are just around the corner, rather than half an hour away. Handy when you’re missing that vital ingredient when making dinner. This convenience can extend to reduced costs for fuel and more free time instead of being stuck in traffic. If you are into the idea of close community ties, then mixed-use developments will surely tickle your fancy, especially the ones in Philippine real estate. It will be a far cry from the suburbs atmosphere, though, because even if you see the same faces regularly, you won’t be pushed to do small talk just to past time. There will be a lot to do with anyone, like grilling barbecues in the outdoor balcony or taking a dip in the pool, making the living experience better.

It can’t all be upside

There are some aspects of it that you may want to consider before opting for a home in a mixed-use structure. These are, of necessity, areas of high population density. If you’re not a people person, it can all be a bit too much. The knock-on effect of this is that they’re lively places to live, which isn’t to everyone’s taste. With so much happening, noise can be an issue. If you’re looking for a quiet life, a mixed use development may not be the best option for you. Finally, a unit in a structure of high demand can be expensive. As these properties are desirable to a higher-earning workforce, the effect of that is to drive up prices. However, online marketplaces can help you sort through properties for the best real estate deal. Zipmatch has great property selection of condos for sale or for rent that won’t break the bank.

Ultimately it comes down to what you value most in life. It could well be that what you’re looking for could be found in a mixed-use development.

Ways in Which You Can Help The World

With the hustle and bustle of daily life, job pressures and family duties, it can be very easy for us to forget about those in the World who are far less fortunate than ourselves. There are those who didn’t win the geographical lottery, those who are maligned by illness or are stuck in situations that they did not choose nor can be held responsible for and it is important that as part of the World, we do all that we can to help. You may not think you have the time or the money to help out but there are always ways in which you can support others and here are just a few of them for you to consider.

1280px-us_specialist_helping_afghan_nomads

Donating Money

There are countless charities and organizations that rely heavily or sometimes sole on the fundraising efforts of their team and the kindness of others to give. If you feel like you don’t have the time to commit to helping others then writing a cheque can do the power of good to many organizations. Take the Synagogue of All Nations (SCOAN) church for example, they sent hundreds of humanitarian workers and medical staff to Haiti in 2010 after the Earthquake that almost destroyed the island and this year they sent $500,000 of aid to Ecuador after it too was hit by an earthquake. Without the donations of kind people, the church would never have been able to help out so much. Just imagine being responsible for helping the lives of others through donating just a  small amount of money.

Donating Your Time

Fining time each week to help out those less fortunate than you is something that is not only rewarding to those whom you are helping but also very personally rewarding. There are countless ways in which you can help, you could help out in a local charity shop, assist in fundraising efforts, you could help out in a local soup kitchen or hospital or even doing something sponsored for charity such as a skydive or bungee jump. What you do exactly is not important it is more the fact that you do something. Think honestly about how you spend your time each week and consider if you could give up just an hour or two in order to help others.

Donate Your Possessions

We all have several things in our lives and around the home that we don’t want or no longer need and spending a day collecting all of these things together and taking them to your local charity shop is a great way to help out. You could help to make the charity a lot of money with your old possessions, providing they are in good condition and this act of kind would not take up too much of your time, but could make a big difference. There are so many people who hoard things that they no longer need and if fewer people did this and more people gave to charity then the World would be a far better place for it.

Investing In a New House

new-home-1664284_1920

Buying a new house is a major decision for anyone to make and it suffices to say that homebuyers really need to do their homework before deciding on a house to purchase.

Having said that, there are many advantages to owning property and investing in a new house is an excellent idea for most people, especially those who are looking to be financially secure in retirement. Here’s a quick look at the benefits of investing in a new house.

Why buy a new house?

There are many advantages to purchasing a new house over one that has been lived in. Moreover, as there are a number of fantastic house designs in the Aveling Homes range for homebuyers to select from, regardless of preference for a particular style, everyone is sure to find the house of their dreams in a location a commutable distance from the Perth CBD.

  • New homes attract better tenants. Homebuyers who are purchasing a house as an investment will find that new homes tend to attract better tenants, by which is meant tenants who will respect the property by taking care of it and residing there for years.
  • New homes offer stamp duty savings. Homebuyers can save tens of thousands of dollars by purchasing a new house and land package over a secondhand home, or even buying a plot of land and building on it.
  • New homes require little maintenance. Because the house is new and has been built to the most modern building standards, new houses are easy to maintain, offering homeowners minimal costs over the first five years when the property is covered by a builder’s warranty.

Additionally, new houses are available in a wide range of styles. As there is such a fantastic range of house design styles to select from, homebuyers investing in one of the new house and land packages in Perth will find that they may have their work cut out for them when making a selection. Whether it’s an ultra-modern design or something more traditional, yet still offering all the modern conveniences one would expect, homebuyers are spoiled for choice.

Depreciation and tax

Another advantage to purchasing a new home for those who are planning to rent their property to tenants is the opportunity to capitalise upon the forces of depreciation. In a new investment home purchased for $250,000 with fixtures totalling around 10% of that amount (approximately $25,000), around $15,000 in tax deductions can be created every year. That’s something for investors to think about when looking into their property buying options.

Important considerations

There are, of course, a number of important considerations that must be taken into account when purchasing a new house as an investment, including the location of the property, the infrastructure surrounding it (also take into account infrastructure planned for the area), and the fiscal health of the region. These are all very important considerations for investors.

Purchasing a new house and land package is an ideal option for property investors and there are many benefits to take advantage of when they purchase a suitable investment property.

Make an Adult Decision on Apartment Rentals

 Creative Commons 3 - CC BY-SA 3.0 Creator: NY - http://nyphotographic.com/

Renting an apartment is one of the more important decisions adults make during their lives.

Whether it is renting one apartment that they will live in for many years to come or renting apartments in what seemingly feels like every other year, it is imperative that one does their research before signing on the dotted line.

That said finding the right apartment doesn’t need to seem like pulling teeth, though the more time and effort you put into getting the right living arrangement the first time around, the less stress and headaches you will have moving forward.

So, are you ready to make an adult decision when it comes to apartment rentals?

Do Some Research to Get It Right

In order for you to make the right apartment search on your first go-around, remember a few important tidbits:

  • Research – For starters, do more than just drive around your community or one you are thinking of and/or planning to move to. Doing a drive-by is not going to allow you to have background information on an apartment community before ever stepping foot in the leasing office. By doing some research on the Internet (see more below) and/or talking to people you know live in certain apartment communities (family, friends, co-workers etc.), you will be better prepared;
  • Worldwide web – The Internet is a great place for you to learn various things about various apartment communities, so don’t pass it up. Whether looking at Lewis Apartments out west or others around the country, keep in mind that the majority of apartment communities have websites in today’s digital age. As a result, they can offer you myriad of information, information that will make it easier to decide if this community is truly right for you. Along with such information, you will find images of the different layouts available, not to mention the different amenities onsite. Lastly, turn to social media, a resource that also can provide you with valuable details. Whether they are current or former residents, it isn’t uncommon these days to see individuals talking about their apartment experiences on social networking sites. If you come across some bad reviews of a particular community, remember to take it with a grain of salt, though it is some information you shouldn’t simply gloss over. A rental company’s online reputation is one of its most important assets, so most will go out of their way to maintain a positive one. Lastly, use social media to communicate with other apartment residents as to what they think of the area neighborhoods where you might be considering taking on a rental. Locals (especially if you’re not familiar with the community) can provide you with valuable information as to any crime issues, how the schools are, what amenities are at the apartment community and nearby etc. Any added information you can have before going to visit an apartment community is a plus for you;
  • Newspapers and magazines – Although the Internet has grown tremendously over the years, there are a fair number of apartment communities still advertising their offerings in both local newspapers and property rental magazines. As a result, it would behoove you to pick up copies of such periodicals (especially the local Sunday newspaper for its apartment rental section). You should also keep an eye out for television commercials featuring area apartment communities. These give you a good view and insight into what they have to offer;
  • Paperwork – Finally, make sure you understand any and all paperwork prior to signing on the dotted line. The last thing you want (or need) is to get tied into an apartment rental arrangement that is not in your best interests over time. Most apartment communities are on the up-and-up, but still do all that is necessary to cover yourself. Make sure you get a copy of all paperwork (including those items with your signature on them). Also clearly understand the rules about if you want to break your lease early. Doing so will allow you to avoid early penalties etc.

No matter what your age may be, apartment rentals can be the right solution at the right time for you.

That is even truer when you do your research from day one.

How Best to Approach Your Exam Revision

Ah exams, the most important tests that we ever take, the opportunity to show off our knowledge and what we have learned during our studies, my friend JD Dukes was studying for his law degree, he was one of those strange people who loved exams and he told me that knowledge isn’t power, revision is power. I guess what he meant was that the only way you could amass knowledge and keep it stuck in your brain was through revision and I guess he was right. The point is that even though many of us hate exams and studying for them, revision is absolutely key to your performance in exams and here are some tips to help you get the best results possible.

359572656_51a00dc2a6_b

Make a Great Plan

The best way to go about your revision is to make a timetable that you can follow, don’t be overly optimistic, plan 4-6 hours of revision each day and ramp it up to 6-8 hours the closer you are to your exams. You are always given enough time to revise and it is important that you use all of this time to revise gradually, don’t put it off until the end where you will end up cramming it all in the last few nights. That is not the best way to get great results.

Ensure That You Are Prepared

It is important to remember that during your revision time, your brain will naturally be looking to procrastinate, everything will look more exciting than doing revision and you need to avoid becoming distracted at all costs. One great way to avoid this is to ensure that you are fully prepared before you begin your revision with everything that you are gong to need, don’t give yourself an excuse to leave your desk, ensure you have pens, pencils, paper, calculators or whatever else you are going to need for your revision. Doing this will keep you at the desk and keep you focused on your revision.

Take Regular Breaks

People think that taking breaks during their revision is some kind of crime and that they should be dedicated to their revision for 12 hours straight, the truth is that this kind of revision is not going to help you. If you concentrate for long periods of time then your brain is going to stop absorbing information which will work directly against what you are trying to do. Taking a break every hour and a half for around 10 minutes will be great for your concentration, it gives you an opportunity to go to the bathroom or for a quick walk to refresh yourself. Ensure that you do only take 10 minutes, any more and your body will start to rest too much or you may find other, more exciting things to do than revision, and let’s be honest, there are a million things that you could find that will be more interesting than revision. Take breaks and stay focussed.

Lifestyle Tweaks To Help You Lose Weight

Losing weight is really important for many individuals from around the world. Unfortunately, most focus on what they eat and working out. While it is true that some products like Le-Vel reviews are interesting and can help you to have a more active life, the truth is that it is your lifestyle that needs to change first. Lifestyle changes are highly important if you want to gain a sustained weight loss as opposed to simply losing some weight and then put it back on.

Limit Eating Out

If you are currently used to eating out many times per week at restaurants or fast food joints, stop. It is all you need to do in order to drastically improve your weight loss efforts. If this is something that you really enjoy, you can always go for just one outing per week. It is more than enough. Also, instead of ordering the really large portions, go for something healthier and smaller.

Shop Intelligently

When you change your shopping habits you will be able to avoid that unwanted situation in which you feel a craving and you actually have it inside the home. Our routine is what destroys our weight loss efforts the most. When you go to the supermarket make it a habit to avoid the sugary and salty regions. Simply avoid them. Do not buy candy and do not invest money in that. It will be a little difficult on the long run but after some time you will get used to it.

Prepare Your Breakfast Ahead Of Time

One of the biggest problems with losing weight is that people do not really eat a good breakfast. You should never skip your breakfast as it really is the most important meal of the day. We recommend that you prepare the breakfast ahead of time. Simply mix protein with some whole grains for a total of around 300 calories. You can even make it a meal to take on the go if you have to go to work. Sandwiches can also be prepared ahead of time. It is basically impossible to lose weight on the long run if you do not eat a good breakfast every single tip. This is a very easy weight loss tip that will help you so much more than what you think at the moment.

Start Working Out Even If Just For A Few Minutes

Watching TV is something that so many do these days. Why not make this a part of your weight loss process? During the commercials all that you have to do is exercise a little. Jumping jacks and crunches can be done in that short time frame. It is even possible to start dancing while the dishes are done. The calories that you will burn will eventually add up and more importantly, you can keep your mind away from junk food. Since we talk about exercising, do your best to quit smoking! Believe it or not but this will make you healthier and will increase your desire to work out!

Are You Game for Added Income?

Times are tough for many people across the country, but there are ways to add a little bit your income if you are resourceful enough.

coins-1015125_640

Sure, picking up extra work can help the situation, but do you really have the time and energy for that matter to do more work if you’re already holding down 40+ hours a week?

You can also opt to sell some of your possessions for a little extra money, but that can oftentimes come with some remorse, especially if the item or items have a lot of sentimental value to you or loved ones.

So, where can you turn to find those additional monetary resources to make life a little easier and less stressful?

You Could Land More Money

One avenue to explore is renting out a portion of your landing for those individuals that enjoy hunting.

Okay, while this will not work for those city-folks, that is unless of course they have a piece of property out in the country, it can be the answer for many other individuals and/or families.

Keep in mind that land for hunting, farming, and just general outdoor usage nationwide seems to be harder and harder to find, this as more developers snatch-up land and put down office buildings, shopping centers and more.

As a result, hunters find it more challenging to locate hunting grounds, grounds free from nearby residences and essentially the outside world.

So, this presents those who own a few acres of land with the opportunity to allow hunters the right to hunt on it, provided of course that they abide by the rules you set.

If you’re thinking this might be an opportunity for you to make a little extra money, keep the following factors in mind:

  • Advertising – Make sure any advertisements you post (online, newspapers, hunting-related magazines, in town etc.) are clear about what you will and won’t allow. The last thing you want is getting embroiled in a suit where someone says you lied or misclassified what they could or could not do on your property. Also be sure that any ads you post have been cleared by your lawyer or attorney, thereby keeping you at a harm’s way in the event something goes wrong (see more below). Essentially look at yourself as a small business, one that must properly market what you have to offer hunters. You could market this on your own, though there are companies out there that will do all the legwork for you;
  • Safety – Above all else, be sure that safety is always your top priority. It just takes one accident on your property to turn into not only a nightmare for one or more individuals, but a financial headache of potentially imaginable size for you and/or your family. As noted with prior advertising tips, make it abundantly clear where hunters may and may not go on your land. If you have neighbors in the distance, it is wise to alert them that you are thinking of or in fact have rented your acreage out to hunters. Sure, some neighbors may not take too kindly to this, but better they be pre-warned than have an accident involving one or more of them occur;
  • Finances – Another item that must be spelled out clearly is the financial terms of the deal with anyone wanting to set foot on your property to take advantage of hunting land for lease. Just as you would in many other instances in life, draw-up a contract so that all financial language is clearly understood by both parties. This lessens the chances of there being some negative repercussions for one or both sides;
  • Reviews – Once you have allowed hunters onto your property to hunt game, review with them each time should they want to come back and work out a new deal. Just as you would hopefully scrutinize any other land deal you are involved in, make sure having others on your land with weapons is in your best interests and those of your family.

If you have an abundance of land or property that is still convenient enough for hunting, do your research and see if you’re game for added income.
