Does Your Personality Change throughout Your Life? If So, Can You Control It?

Fact: Major Changes Take Place in Personality As You Mature

Long-held theory on personality is that it is intransigent to change. It is assumed that our personalities are developed in childhood, and fixed for life. Outgoing personalities remain so, introverted personalities remain so, aggressive personalities remain so, and calm personalities remain so, and so forth. But new research from Sanjay Srivastava PhD goes counter to the grain of conventional wisdom. Extensive research was conducted on 132,515 adults between the ages of 21 and 60. Over their lifespan, the top 5 personality traits were studied. These include neuroticism, extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, and agreeableness. Quite surprisingly, there were major changes in personality as people aged. The most notable changes in personality took place with those who are disciplined, organized, and led structured lives. This aspect of personality increased with age, as people’s careers started to blossom in their personal lives developed.

Another important personality trait that showed dramatic change over the years was affability. People are generally more inclined to be kindhearted and affable after the age of 30, according to the study. This trend continued throughout later years, particularly among women, but was present in men too. Not all aspects of personality are as likely to change as others. For example, extroverted personality behavior and neurotic personality behavior showed gender discrepancies. Younger women generally scored higher than men in those departments. Over time however, that gap narrowed. Of course, the personality factors that were studied online and in person are subject to demographic, locational, cultural, and other factors.

Can You Up the Ante by Playing to Your Personality Strengths?

Interesting data has been collected over time, and there is compelling evidence to suggest that success is possible with all personality types. Nowhere is this more evident than competitive gaming. Poker remains the most glaring example of how a specific personality can succeed, regardless of the conditions. This is called playing to your personality strengths. A risk-averse player can be as successful as an aggressive player in the game of poker. A great example of this is Bruno Politano. This poker champ has always played his cards close to his chest, and he has won an incredible $1,185,614 to date. He maintains that despite the situation, every play should be deliberate and the least amount of risk should be taken. His deliberate plays are closely associated with the organized personality type. Otherwise known as The Rock, Bruno believes that variance is less important than knowledge in games of poker. This dovetails perfectly with his personality and game plan.

Can You Control Personality Changes?

All personalities have strengths and weaknesses. For many of us, it would be desirable to be able to control our personalities by being less aggressive, more assertive, extroverted or impassioned about certain things. The fact of the matter is that no single personality is best for all situations. What is preferable is the right emotions and behavior at the right time. Many folks wish for a different personality type such as an extroverted personality if they are introverted. Other folks wish that they were more organized and disciplined when they live in a haphazard laissez-faire sort of way. Can you possibly change your personality type? While personality cannot really be changed too much, if at all, our traits can be adapted to meet our life challenges. In other words, our environment directly impacts the traits and behaviors inherent in our personality. In a stressful situation, we may rely more on our organizational skills and diligence to succeed than we do on our introverted nature.

This makes us appear to be assertive when we are inherently shy. Another great example is the difference between our work lives and our social lives. At work, we may be inclined to be assiduous and detail oriented, organized and structured. Outside of work, we may enjoy cutting loose and being hedonistic. Which is the true personality type? Are they mutually exclusive? It should be pointed out that a sociable person may not necessarily be an extrovert. Somebody who is affable to others in public may not be an extrovert by nature. By contrast, an introvert who is sociable may be mistaken for an extrovert. We learn certain behaviors, and character traits from our interactions with our environment.  Consider these as your shadow traits, and careful management of them will be conducive to a happier existence.

How Do I Win at 3-card poker?

3-card-pokerIt’s not hard to understand why so many poker fans like to play 3-card poker. Not only is it fast-paced, but also it’s far easier to grasp than other poker games like Texas Hold’em. If you’ve been trying to master the art of winning at Caesars Casino 3-card poker, you’ll be pleased to hear that the strategies and secrets of success are nice and straightforward. Today we take a look at the best playing strategies, so that next time you’re playing online, your chances of victory will be increased.

Strategy against the dealer

The best way to proceed when playing against the dealer is to raise the wager or make the play with any hand of queen-6-4 or better. Some choose to employ a strategy of queens or higher, but we find that both approaches produce similar results. Pay attention and you’ll notice that the dealer plays the queens or higher strategy – so why not play him at his own game? In practice, this strategy means playing any pair or higher, king or ace high, queen high when your second card is a seven or higher, and queen high when your second card is six or higher and your third is four or higher. Only playing these specific hands means you’ll also have to learn to execute patience. There will be a lot of hands that you simply have to fold.

Strategy for Pair Plus

In order to open yourself up to winning big at 3-card poker, you’ll need to utilise the pairs plus bet. One of the most common wager strategies is to play both ante and pair plus wagers for equal amounts, or alternatively, for one of the ante or the pair plus wagers to be double the amount of the other one. We recommend placing 100 percent of your total bet on the ante, as this is where the lowest house edge is, and where you’ll have more chance of coming out ahead.

Strategy for your bankroll

Other useful strategies that will help you with your game mostly revolve around how to manage your bankroll and your money. Try your best to preserve your betting bank for as long as possible. Remember, more money means more games, and more games means more chances to hit those three cards that will see you win big! Always remain vigilant of how much you’ve won or lost in each sitting, and withdraw or put aside small amounts when you’re on a winning streak.

Where Did Dance Music Come From and Where Is it Going?

Where Did Dance Music Come From, anyway?
Photo by CC user LilRockit on Wikimedia Commons

House is a popular style of music that some say was developed in 1981 in Chicago. The music was designed to help people escape from gang and street life, settling the untampered consciousness of youths. They were able to mingle with likeminded peers, while also dancing away their troubles. If you attend music college, you will generally learn quite a lot about this part of music history. where did dance music come from? In this post, we will give you a brief taste of its past, and its path towards the future.

The Evolution of Dance Music

Then, there was techno music, which was developed in the early 1990s in Detroit. It is believed that this stemmed from the fact that new sounds, patterns, and textures were developing on a global scale. Techno was its natural progression. Electronic sounds become more unique, and new electronic instruments and devices were being developed. The song’s heartbeat was suddenly down to kick and snare, and the bass was now a backbone of the song. The melody was created by the synthesizer, bringing people to club doors and getting them to have fun dancing the night away.

There are have been many different styles and genres that are all part of dance music. This includes techno, dee house, electro house, megabeat, funky house, disco house, techo, garage, electronica, industrial, trance, underground, minimal techno, ambient, and so on.

We see this type of music as something modern, but it was actually heavily influenced by bands from the 60s. You may not have hear of The Tornados, but their song, Telstar, released in 1962, was arguably the first techno-pop ever created. It also become a number on hit. In the song, the main instrument was the clavioline, which is quite similar to the electric keyboard. The Tornados were a British group and the first ever to score a US number one hit. Intended as a novelty to consider space age, they actually created something that evolved the world of music.

Since The Tornados, many remixers and DJs have emerged on the scene, creating a whole new futuristic sound. Remixing beats and cuts, DJs have created a range of songs, many of them turning into number one hits. At the same time, they have ensured the music industry started to listen to them, competing with each other and against each other for domination of the music scene.

It has to be said that, today, there isn’t a single, standalone genre or sound anymore. They are all influenced by each other, by cultures, and more. Even creator of music has a unique imagination, adding little bits of themselves to things that already exist. It is very rare for a true groundbreaker to come along, like Kraftwerk and The Tornados, but when they do, they change everything.

The reality is also that today’s groundbreaker is probably already in the studio right now, or at least in their own bedroom trying to make something new. We don’t know what it is yet, we don’t know what it will be influenced by, but we do know that it is out there.

It’s Your Choice for Online Entertainment – or Is It?

Do you have a choice when it comes to Online Entertainment?

When it comes to entertainment, there are an insane variety of options you can choose from. And most of them will cost you money, either in the form of fees you pay to consume them or as advertising you’ll have to endure in the process. But not all forms of entertainment are created equal. Some of them, like real money online gaming, are not as well-seen by society than others. Millions of people around the world are restricted from accessing their games of choice, not allowed to play the slot machines vailable at All Jackpots, even if their land-based gaming industry thrives. Which is not fair, if you ask me.

Rules and regulations

Europe, as well as many other countries around the world, have chosen to regulate the online gambling industry. Residents of most European countries can play without restrictions at the All Jackpots Online Casino – provided they are of legal age (18 or older in most countries). Operators, in turn, are required to obtain a license to offer their services to the public. The above-mentioned All Jackpots Casino runs under a license issued by the MGA (Malta Gaming Authority), a very strict one that regulates player access, game fairness, security, privacy, and anti-money laundering measures, too. This offers All Jackpots players access to their favorite games on any device they might own, and peace of mind, too.

State monopolies

Some countries allow online gambling, but only for certain companies. In Canada, for example, state lotteries are the only companies that are allowed to offer real money online gambling services to their players. Unfortunately, not all Canadians can legally play at these gaming destinations – they are available to the residents of their own provinces only. And, since not all provinces’ lotteries have decided to open their own online casinos, Canadians are still almost forced to rely on offshore operators to be able to play their favorite games.

Restrictive laws

In Australia, only sports betting is allowed over the internet – and the services can only be offered by companies based in the country. Thus, major international operations had no choice but to acquire Australian companies to be able to enter the market. When it comes to casino games, the laws are clear: it’s forbidden to offer and promote online gambling services to Australians. But, as they like to play the pokies, Aussie players need to rely on offshore operators to get their fix.

In the US, there is no law that expressly forbids online casino games – but money transactions to and from real money gaming venues outside the country are restricted. There are just a handful of states that regulate online gambling – Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey. Although there are several other states discussing the legalization of the industry, little to no progress was made in the area in the last five years.

It’s time for a change

Science has already had its say on online gambling years ago, stating that it’s not as evil as its opponents would like it to sound. Still, the industry is in a regulatory limbo, balancing on the thin line that’s known as the “gray zone”. A comprehensive, global regulation of online gambling could allow people to choose their preferred form of online entertainment, at the operator of their choice, but it might harm some interests, which is possibly the explanation for the long debate over its viability.
